The EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality (EHL SSTH) has successfully met the high quality standards of the following accreditation institutes:
EHL SSTH is the only hotel management school to offer both German and English HF Swiss Professional Degrees to become a certified Swiss Hôtelière-Restauratrice/Hôtelier-Restaurateur, which are recognized by the Swiss Confederation.
The Swiss Professional Degree (HF degree) has a very high quality standard, both in its operational training and management education. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI) states: "The HF degree programs impart skills to students that enable them to take on specialist and management responsibility independently in their field. They are labor market-oriented and, in particular, promote the ability to think methodically and synergistically."
The Swiss Professional Degree (HF degree) taught at Swiss Colleges such as EHL SSTH is classified as level 6, tertiary B education according to the national and European qualifications frameworks.
Tertiary level B denotes higher education for professionals learning a trade. A level 6 qualification is the same level as a bachelor's.
EHL SSTH has successfully completed its pre-accreditation for the internationally renowned THE-ICE quality label for tourism and hospitality education.
EHL SSTH is now an associate of THE-ICE and was cited as a model Swiss hotel management school with a great deal of "heart and soul".
The University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO) has recognized the German and English HF degree program "Dipl. Hôtelière-Restauratrice / Hôtelier-Restaurateur HF " of EHL SSTH with an equivalent value of 90 ECTS points for entering the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management of the EHL.
This recognition gives EHL SSTH graduates the opportunity to further their academic education by transitioning directly into their bachelor's degree program. They thus become part of the Bologna system, which unifies European universities together in higher education.
Hotel management schools in Switzerland offer a range of different qualifications that can be difficult to understand. How can you gauge which one is best for you?
THE-ICE stands for The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education and is a not-for-profit organization that accredits programs internationally with a focus on recognizing, developing, promoting and supporting excellence in tourism, hospitality and education.
The EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality received certification as an Associate of The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE).
The Bachelor in International Hospitality Management offers a curriculum designed and delivered by Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne. EHL is the only hospitality school recognized as part of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland. The bachelor's degree is also compliant with the Bologna agreement, which ensures that it is recognized throughout Europe.
EHL is also accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges in the United States.
The EHL Swiss School of Tourism and Hospitality has been part of the EHL Group since 2013. The EHL Group also owns the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), the oldest and most famous hotel management school in the world.
EHL and SSTH work closely together and constantly adapt their training courses to the needs of the hotel industry. Since its foundation in 1893, EHL has trained more than 25,000 managers in the hotel industry.
